Now from the network that brought back 90210 and Melrose Place comes the Vampire Diaries. The CW network is hoping to capitilize on recent major motion vampire pictures like Twilight. I am a little shocked that they didn’t try and bring back Buffy The Vampire Slayer given their history for reviving defunct television shows.
The Vampire Diaries is based on the writings of American author L.J. Smith and the story line in centered around a girl in a love triangle with two brothers who just happen to be vampires. The shows target audience is most likely teens or tweens similar to twilight.
The network has signed Dawson’s Creek mastermind Kevin Williamson to be the executive producer for the show. Cast members include Nina Dobrev from Degrassi and Ian Somerhalder best known for his work in Lost. Whether the show will be a hit remains to be seen but it is definitely on the right network for teens and tweens.
